Spillway Flow Control
The spillway required gates that could support controlled water releases as reservoir levels changed.
FUDA supplied radial gates, gate hoists, and trash racks for the Nam Vela Hydropower Station in northern Laos. Explore the equipment scope, technical specifications, and delivery highlights of this project.
Located in northern Laos, Nam Vela Hydropower Station includes a reservoir, spillway, and intake structures that support water management for power generation. The project called for equipment to control water releases, operate gates, and protect the intake from floating debris.
FUDA supplied radial gates, gate hoists, and trash racks for the station. Together, these components address flow control, gate operation, and intake protection across the project’s water-control structures.
The station’s spillway and intake presented three connected water-control requirements. Each influenced the selection and arrangement of the equipment supplied for the project.
The spillway required gates that could support controlled water releases as reservoir levels changed.
The gates needed suitable hoisting equipment and practical access for inspection and maintenance.
The water intake needed protection from floating debris, with access for regular cleaning.
FUDA supplied a coordinated equipment package for the spillway and water intake, covering gate structures, gate operation, and intake debris protection.

Radial gates form the primary flow-control equipment at the spillway. They provide a controlled path for releasing water from the reservoir as operating conditions change.

Trash racks provide a protective barrier at the water intake, helping limit debris entering the waterway while allowing access for routine cleaning.

The Nam Vela equipment package required coordination across the spillway gates, hoists, and water-intake protection. The following stages show how the equipment moved from project requirements toward delivery.
Gate openings, hoist arrangements, and intake-rack interfaces were reviewed together so the supplied components matched their intended locations within the project.
Gate, hoist, and trash-rack components were fabricated and checked against the agreed equipment drawings before packing and dispatch.
The equipment was prepared for shipment with documentation for on-site handling. FUDA coordinated technical questions during the project handover.
FUDA completed the supply of radial gates, winch gate hoists, and trash racks for Nam Vela Hydropower Station. The equipment package and supporting technical documents were handed over for integration at the spillway and water intake.
